Well today I had the privilege of driving home on the freeway during the BLIZZARD!! I could not see anything around me! It also didn't help that a huge truck kept drenching my windshield with ice balls. My whippers froze up and just began to smear the ice across my windshield making it impossible for me to see!! At this point I was freaking out!! I was sliding back and forth and couldn't see a thing and I was headed up around the point of the mountain. I called Mikkel and began sobbing because I thought that I was going to die, as if he could do anything anyways. He told me to calm down and be careful but for some reason I wanted him to just make the snow go away. I calmed down and decided to crank up the defrost to see if it would melt the ice chunks on my whipper blades. At this point I had said some bad words and was trying to find just a few clear inches on my windshield. I leaned over to the passenger side because the windshield was less icy over there. I got the biggest cramp in my back from leaning over but luckily the defrost had melted some of the ice. I was now almost to my exit and I was counting the cars that were sliding off the road. I figured that If I got stuck going up the hill to my house then I could walk the rest of the way. My goal was to just make it down the off ramp. I just wanted to be inside my house and I had to pee so bad. I came down the off ramp and totally just ran the stop sign because I wouldn't have made it if I had stopped. The rest of the way up hill I just pressed the gas pedal as hard as I could, sliding and screeching all the way. I finally made it to my street and I had one more hill to go and then It was straight into my garage. I pressed the garage door opener before I got there so I wouldn't have to stop in our sloped driveway. I started to turn into the drive way but I slide and got stuck in our shrubs!! I got out and grabbed a shovel, dug my self out, backed my car up, and gunned it up the drive way. I had made it... I had accomplished something that I fear every winter and I did it with almost bald tires and no 4 wheel drive. I am proud of myself (but not for swearing, bawling uncontrollably, and running a stop sign!) I am not going to be trying that ever again!

I'm glad you made it home. Lehi alwalys gets the snow the worst. I feel bad that you had such an awful experience. We had to pick the kids up early at school today due to the snow. I remember it being bad last Feb. I was taking the girls to cheer class and it was a blizzard. I couldn't see anything. I went half way and decided to turn the car around. We never made it due to the road conditions. Merry Christmas!!! Your a doll. You should be a model. You are so pretty.I'm jealous!
Ash that is so scary!!! I am glad you you swore and cursed (it always makes you feel somewhat better...right?) and that you cried and called Mikkel! I get freaked out too when I can't see through my windsheild. I am just so happy that you made it home ok with out getting in a car accident, or getting stuck on the side of the road and having to walk the rest of the way home!! Tommorrow just stay inside all day and watch a movie with a blanket around you and a cup of hot cocoa in your hand!!!
oh my gosh you could have died!! i hate hate hate driving in the snow. all day i was texting my family to make sure they were alive. i have to close my eyes while brysons driving or a freak out the whole time and then we wants to punch me. its so scary. i'm glad that you lived
Aaaagh, I feel for you! The night before this last Valentine's day was a huge snow storm and they closed the road to our condo-while I was on it. I was stuck for over 4 hrs, and didn't think I'd make it home. I'm with you on hating to drive in the snow and I don't blame you one bit for crying. I blogged about my ordeal too and even admitted to talking to my car as though it could understand me. I'm so glad you made it home safe!
